HOW IS COMFORT SHIELD PEST CONTROL INSULATION INSTALLED?
Step 1: We remove and dispose of existing damaged insulation to start transforming your attic into a cleaner, drier, healthier space.
Step 2: We install a ‘Radiant Heat Barrier’ that has patented spring steel batten for easy roll-in application and perforated holes to allow for proper air flow and ventilation.
Step 3: We utilize industry-proven techniques to exclude and prevent future infestations with our disinfectant fogger machine which runs for 30 minutes prior to Comfort Shield installation.
Step 4: Comfort Shield is blown in directly on top of your existing attic insulation using specialized equipment. Typically, a Comfort Shield job takes about 1/2 a day to install.

How is TAP® made?
TAP® is made from post-consumer recycled paper and a pesticide-grade pure boric acid that is proven to control insects. Boric acid is a low toxicity mineral salt mined from the earth and is commonly used in swimming pools, as laundry detergent, and in cosmetics – it’s nature’s pesticide! TAP® is registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is acceptable to use around humans and pets.
Is TAP® a fire hazard?
No. TAP® contains a fire retardant that prevents the product from burning. TAP® meets and is tested in accordance with strict federal fire safety standards. When a flame is introduced to the product, it forms a charred surface barrier that can help limit the spread of fire.
How does TAP® compare to fiberglass?
Numerous studies have been conducted on the difference between the various types of insulation, many with varying results (often depending on who is sponsoring the research/study). We have sufficient scientific data to support the claim that buildings insulated with cellulose insulation use 32% less energy than buildings insulated with fiberglass. Thus, a claim that TAP® is 32% more energy efficient than fiberglass insulation is supportable.
